Village Motors paid tribute to two of their staff members who have been recognised for their contributions to the company and for excellent performance.
Wendy White, one of their longest serving staff members, received a Village Motors Employee of the Year Award for 2008, and also took out the prestigious Employee of the Year 2009 at a recent region-wide Business Awards.
Meanwhile, Petrie sales consultant Mal Thompson was awarded the coveted 5-Year Sales Guild Award 2009 from General Motors Holden.
Wendy has been employed by Village Motors Group for more than 20 years and holds the position of Deal Processing Manager. She says still enjoys the daily challenges she is presented with, even after 20 years.
Wendy is married, has two daughters, with one grandson. She says that the family values and emphasis on team work at Village Motors has mirrored her own values and enabled her to contribute at many levels.
Newcombes Holdings Managing Director Marlene Newcombe said Wendy’s contribution and friendship had been invaluable over the past 20 years.
“You cannot put a price on someone’s knowledge who has been with you for such a long period,” Marlene said.
To achieve a Sales Guild Award, Mal had to meet specified annual sales targets and customer satisfaction ratings for five consecutive years. In Queensland, there were only two other sales people who achieved the award this year.
“I like achieving targets, and this is a particularly difficult target to achieve because of the length of time it takes,” Mal said. “It has to be done in five consecutive years, so you can’t miss a year. Now, I’m going for 10 years!”
Dealer Principal Dave Newcombe said the reward was fitting recognition for Mal, whose clients returned to Mal to buy a second or third car from him because he looked after them so well.
“In sales, you have to achieve targets and the best way you do that is by looking after your customers, and Mal is clearly expert in doing that. He’s a great example to all our up-and-coming sales consultants and he’s a great mentor to them too.” Last changed: Jan 15 2010 at 3:20 PM
