Best recreational 4WD, judges agree.
The recently launched X-TRAIL was selected by the nation's auto club judges as the Best Recreational 4WD ahead of a strong group of contenders.
'In a field that boasts 32 runners, and some very discerning buyers these days, it takes a stand-out performance to win,' said the judges.
'Nissan's new X-TRAIL now strikes that often difficult-to-achieve balance between on-road drivability and off-road performance, while providing a high degree of refinement, comfort, safety and quality in a package that abounds in practical features.'
The Nissan X-TRAIL was launched in October with an abundance of new features including a new ALL MODE 4x4 system with hill start assist and hill descent control, dual front, side and curtain airbags and electronic stability program (ESP) all as standard features.
With the choice of a six-speed manual or stepless CVT automatic transmission matched to a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, the X-TRAIL offers sparkling performance and impressive fuel economy.
Inside, the X-TRAIL is even more spacious than before and offers innovative storage solutions, including a clever two-level luggage floor with a sliding drawer system and heated or cooled front and rear cup holders to meet the demands of an active lifestyle.
Nissan Australia's managing director, Shinya Hannya, said the new X-TRAIL is both a winner with customers and the critics.
'The X-TRAIL is an innovative vehicle with real off-road ability and great on-road performance which ensures it stands out from the pack,' said Mr Hannya.
'With its sophisticated ALL MODE 4x4-i system and spacious and practical interior, the X-TRAIL is definitely not a pretender.'
The Australia's Best Car awards are judged by nine technical experts ' engineers and vehicle road-testers ' from each of the seven Australian state and territory Auto Clubs: NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RACT and AANT.
