Who would ever think the Commodore could get from Brisbane to Rockhampton on a single tank? Now it can be done!
From September, Australians can now have the best of both worlds with Holden’s new Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) technology, which means dramatically improved fuel economy and engine performance.

SIDI technology provides fuel economy that not only defeats any V6 in its class, but also beats some four cylinder cars.
All petrol V6 models will have the new state-of-the-art SIDI engines, making them one of the most advanced V6 power plants in Australia.
Car buyers can now enjoy the comforts of a reliable, family sized car while paying fuel bills similar to that of a smaller car, with remarkable fuel economy starting from just 9.3 litres per 100km. This is an impressive fuel efficiency improvement of up to 12-13% on Holden’s Commodore models.
There are two new SIDI V6 engines being manufactured in Australia, a 3.0 litre SIDI V6 engine will be standard on Omega and Berlina Commodore models, and a 3.6 litre SIDI V6 engine will be standard on Calais and Calais V-Series and SV6. The 3.6 litre SIDI V6 will also be available on the Statesman and Caprice.
This outstanding development is possible as SIDI technology injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber, improving air flow, thermal efficiency and allowing a higher compression ratio.
